If you are thinking about downsizing, moving closer to your children and friends, or are just looking for a change of scenery how about planning a visit to The Shires?

You may not have thought about moving to a retirement village, but alongside the gorgeous, well-equipped, brand-new luxury apartments are a whole host of beneficial reasons that make it well worth considering!

In fact, the benefits of living in a retirement village are numerous – we’ve listed some of them below:

Safety and Security

First and foremost, we know that feeling safe is paramount to feeling ‘at home’ and at The Shires, all of our apartments are fitted with door cameras and emergency alert systems as standard.

The building itself is accessed using a personal key fob for the front doors, which open into a lobby area with a staffed reception desk. To enter any of the residential areas of the Village, key fob entry is also required.

Low-maintenance

Buying a luxury apartment at The Shires means everything is new – state-of-the-art appliances and the latest technologies – both in your home and the building as a whole, ensure that maintenance isn’t an issue for years to come. No more worrying about loose roof tiles or painting the outside of your home or window frames! You can concentrate on the things that matter – like having a good time!

Bills and living costs

Being newly built, means that The Shires has benefitted from all the latest building technologies:  great insulation, air-conditioning and heating; double glazed windows and doors; smart meters and energy-efficient appliances. Bills and living costs are low due to all of these.

Onsite facilities

Wouldn’t it be nice to roll out of bed and have everything at hand? Well at The Shires you can, and, what’s more, the facilities on offer are second-to-none.

There is a Village Shop where you can buy your day-to-day essential items. A hairdressing salon and beauty treatment room allow you to always look your best. The Library has a large selection of books and you can take them away to read in your own apartment or get comfy in one of the cosy armchairs and relax amongst the books! We have a well-stocked Craft Room if getting creative is your thing and our Village Hall is the venue for various weekly fitness classes, film clubs and musical events.

Our Bistro serves up delicious, nutritious food from breakfast until dinner or just pop in for your favourite coffee and piece of cake. The Opal Bar is also a great place to relax and unwind at the end of the day.

Social activities

The beauty of a retirement village such as The Shires is that you can get involved with social activities as and when you want. If you fancy joining others for a pub quiz or a celebration dinner you can, if not, then no worries. Everything is on your doorstep should you want to get involved, but there’s never any pressure – it’s there if you want it.
